Student Theater

The Student Theater of the University of Latvia (UL) began its activity in 1946. Since 1993, the artistic director and director of the UL Student Theater is Visvaldis Klintsons, who over the years has staged plays of various genres. In the theater's repertoire next to drama productions are several dance theather plays and a poetry performance for children that have been created under the leadership of long-time actress Signe Nikolaeva.
Over the years, the Student Theater has received many different awards and evaluations. Guest acts are played on various stages across country. The theater regularly participates in the Riga amateur theater show "Riga Plays Theater", the Latvian amateur theater show "Show of the Year", Latvian student theater days, Song and Dance Festival and many other local and international festivals and events. Students, graduates and staff of the University of Latvia all work together to keep developing and find new fors of expression. The aim of the theater is not to train professional actors, but to give participants the opportunity for creative self-expression. The Student Theater unites all who are passionate about the theater art.
